The bottom line here is that if rehab consultants organize and standardize lenders would use consultants on more renovation loans. FHA 203k is the only renovation loan that actually requires the use of a consultant, however; most lenders would use the services of a qualified consultant because they view the services of a consultant as “Risk Management”.

The results of a survey that was done last summer indicated that the lenders would consider using consultants on lower-end renovations for less than $35,000.00 so, there is a huge potential for increased business for consultants. Over 94% of America’s existing housing stock is over 30 years old and in need of substantial renovation; our industry can only grow if our services are properly managed.
